2 BB Guns, 1 Road Rage Incident and A Massachusetts Man Arrested
SALEM — Police arrested a man accused of pointing a BB gun at another driver during a road rage incident.
On Friday at 6:47 p.m. a driver called police and said he had been driving north on Route 28 in the area of Cluff Road when a person driving a dark Honda with Massachusetts license plates tried to merge into his lane.
When the driver of the Honda was unsuccessful at merging, he became "enraged" and pointed what the victim described as a dark-colored handgun at him. As both vehicles continued driving north, the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim a second time in the area of the 99 Restaurant before turning west on Rockingham Park Boulevard.
Officers found the Honda parked near Sears at the Mall at Rockingham Park and saw what appeared to be a handgun on the rear passenger seat.
The suspect, identified at 31-year-old Brandon Heath, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, told police he had been involved in a road rage incident and that the other driver had been the aggressor.
Police found two "realistic looking" BB guns in Heath's vehicle.
Police investigated and charged Heath with two counts of criminal threatening. He turned himself in to police Saturday.
He was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned June 11 in Salem district court.
