16-year-old tells police NH state rep sucked her fingers, grabbed her inner thigh
BRENTWOOD — A New Hampshire state representative allegedly touched a 16-year-old girl's "intimate parts" along with other unwanted physical contact, according to court documents.
Documents from Rockingham Superior Court state that Eric Schleien, 29, of Hudson, is charged with one misdemeanor count of sexual assault and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault.
The alleged victim told police that Schleien approached her at a cafe in Exeter after seeing a political sticker on her laptop. After a few minutes of talking, Schleien told her that he had to go, so he had her to text him to set up a time where the two could talk politics.
After the initial meeting, the teen told police that she believed Schleien was gay.
According to police, the alleged victim texted her information to Schleien and the two agreed to meet on June 22 at 2 p.m. at the same Exeter cafe.
At that meeting, Schleien drove the two to Portsmouth, where the teen said the conversation stayed on the topic of politics and philosophy, as she anticipated.
Once in Portsmouth, the two hung out at Prescott Park and the conversation switched topics.
The teen told police that Schleien brought up a former girlfriend who accused him of rape, but not to worry because his lawyer "shut her up real quick."
The alleged victim said Schleien kept most of the conversation sexually explicit, telling her of several other encounters with women and men, according to court documents.
Schleien told the 16-year-old that he was intuitive and knew right away that she was "into him" and that he was into her.
The victim told police that at this point she was very uncomfortable but did not want to cross him in fear of being left without a ride home.
The two moved locations to a restaurant police believe was the Friendly Toast, where the conversation continued.
According to the victim's statement to police, Schleien suggested playing a "game" where he would ask her a question, then say a confession, then give her a compliment, and then the two would switch. The teen told police that all of his questions were of sexual nature, making her feel as though he was "creating her sexual resume," the affidavit states.
Schleien allegedly confessed what he wanted to do to the teen, including "rape my (her) mouth" and "cum on my (her) face until she was covered in it," according to court documents.
At this point, Schleien suggested going back to his apartment, but the alleged victim said she was not comfortable with that.
The conversation switched to what Schleien would hypothetically do if they were back at his apartment, which included, "eating her out" and "making her squirt all over his face," the affidavit states.
The victim again pointed out to police that she was uncomfortable with this exchange, but felt that she had no other way home and no money.
While still at the restaurant, police said the teen texted a friend to tell him what was going on.
According to court documents, the friend received several texts from the teen throughout the night:
At 4:09 p.m. "He's hitting on me openly and shit I'm just uncomfortable ..."
5:14 p.m. "I FUXKING hate this so much he's such a creep he keeps telling me how much he's gunna make me squirt and shit but we are still at the restaurant and I'll make him take me home after."
5:30 p.m. "Call me"
5:33 p.m. "Please"
5:40 p.m. "Dood"
6:01 p.m. "I coming home"
and finally at 6:05 p.m. the victim said "I'm fucking scared"
According to court documents, the teen faked a phone call and told Schleien that she had to return to Exeter immediately to help a friend.
While walking back to the car, the alleged victim told police she felt that Schleien was intentionally walking a couple steps behind her in an attempt to look up her dress.
Before reaching the car, Schleien allegedly asked the teen where she liked to be kissed, responding with her hand, the victim told police that she thought it was the furthest away from her body.
When the two got in the car, the victim said Schleine locked the door and grabbed her left hand, he then began kissing it and sucking on her fingers. His grip was firm enough that she could not pull away, the affidavit states.
Schleien then grabbed the back of the victims neck and attempted to kiss her, but she was able to block him with her hands, stating that she was uncomfortable, according to court documents.
When the two started driving, Schleien allegedly put his hand on her upper, inner left thigh, gripping her hard enough to "ripple the fat" on her leg. The victim told police that he kept his hand there and would "flick" his pinky finger up to the point where he touched the outer part of her vagina through her underwear.
On Aug. 30, 2016, officers tried to reach out to Eric Schleien in attempt to set up an interview but were unsuccessful in their efforts to reach him.
Schleien's lawyer, Attorney Seth J. Hipple, issued a statement Friday saying that Schleien completely denies the allegations against him.
"Mr. Schleien vehemently denies these allegations. It is important to note that these charges are misdemeanors and do not allege that there was any sort of violence or threats," the statement read. "Mr. Schleien has pleaded not guilty, is cooperating with the process, and expects to be fully vindicated."
Schleien said that the victim told him "I feel very safe around you" while in the car leaving Portsmouth.
Schleien is scheduled to appear at the Rockingham County Superior Court on Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
