WATCH: Coast Guard Rescues Entangled Sea TurtleCUTTYHUNK, MASS. — A coast guard crew rescued a sea turtle Sunday that had become entangled in a rope off of the coast of Cuttyhunk Island near Cape Cod.
The USCG station at Menemsha on Martha's Vineyard received a call from a fisherman about 12:30 p.m. that a turtle had been spotted that was wrapped up in a line attached to a lobster pot off of Cuttyhunk, one of the Elizabeth Islands in Buzzard's Bay.
A member of the Massachusetts Department of Natural Resources accompanied the crew. They freed the animal from the rope and it swam away.
