A new virus is infecting millions of Android phones, stealing ad revenue
If you own an Android phone or other device, you may want to scan your android for viruses as soon as possible!
A new malware named CopyCat is spreading like wildfire and has already infected nearly 14 million Android devices.
According to the Register, the virus CopyCat illicitly creates and steals ad revenue using the device. First, CopyCat invades the phone or tablet, and after rooting itself, the infection sends new code into Zygote, which is the daemon that controls the opening of applications in the Android OS.
By gaining illegitimate control of Zygote, CopyCat can receive money by installing apps without the owner's permission. This is done by changing the normal owner's ID with the virus' own.
