5th Black Ice Pond Hockey Tournament this weekend in Concord
CONCORD - It could be a snowy weekend in the Capital City, perfect weather for the 5th Annual 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Tournament. The event raises money every year to maintain and expand ice skating opportunities for the community.
The date 1883 pays homage to city's rich history with the winter sport. The first-ever organized hockey game played in the United States happened on Long Pond in Concord on November 17, 1883.
The weekend-long tournament kicks off Wednesday night with a reception at Barley House B-Lounge from 5-7pm. Long Trail Black Ice Ale, the offical beer of the tournament will be on tap.
The tournament begins Friday and will run through Sunday.
