11-year-old boy rescued from rapids in NH
CONWAY — An 11-year-old boy was playing in New Hampshire's Swift River when he caught himself trapped in the rapids.
According to Conway Fire Department's Swift Rescue Team, responders were sent to Lower Falls Recreation Area in the White Mountains after reports of a child in danger.
The boy allegedly had been playing in Swift River and got himself caught in the rapids before his parents could notice.
Responders say the boy's father was able to get him from the rapids and onto a nearby rock, but ended up on a small ledge that was far from shore.
Rescue swimmers crossed the river to where the two subjects were located, placed them in helmets and life jackets before moving them back to safety using rescue ropes.
No injuries were reported during the rescue.
