Dolly Parton Anthology Series Set to Premiere on Netflix

Netflix and country legend Dolly Parton have inked a deal for an anthology series with each of the 8 episodes based on a song written by her.

It's not certain if Dolly will star in them or just make cameo appearances.

Word about the new show leaked during Netflix's FYC panel discussion for the series "Grace and Frankie" starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin (whom Parton co-starred with in the 1980 hit movie "9-5.")

Fonda and Tomlin were asked if they would make a cameo in Dolly's new show. Both said they would love to if time allowed. The new movie undertaking comes from Dolly's Dixie Pixie Production company, Sam Haskell's Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros Television.

Netflix is hoping it will do as well as her venture with NBC in 2015 that included made-for-TV movies "Coat of Many Colors" (watched by almost 16 million viewers), and the sequel "Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love."

The Anthology will debut in 2019.
