Pizza isn't usually considered a breakfast food. But apparently, it should be according to one dietitian.
On Monday, blogger and Registered Dietitian Chelsey Amer said it would actually be better for you to eat pizza for breakfast instead of cereal.
"You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories," Amer said to The Daily Meal.
Two more pluses to eating pizza for breakfast: It contains more protein to help keep you full for longer and more fat and less sugar so you won't go through that huge sugar crash, making you want to take a nap by lunch time.
However, not everyone agrees with Amer's advice.
Another dietitian, Keri Gans, told the New York Post cereal can be healthier than pizza as long as you’re smart about it.
“If you choose the right cereal that’s packed with fiber, it may help lower cholesterol and control blood sugar,” Gans said. Read the fine print: You want a cereal that has 3 grams of sugar or less and at least 6 grams of fiber.
Also, you could get more vitamins in by adding berries and get more protein by adding nuts.
While pizza sounds delicious for breakfast, not to mention easy, it appears it's not always a healthier option. Nice try, Chelsey Amer.
