What Do The Patriots, Mexico City and Mt. Washington Have in Common?

After the win in Denver on Sunday night the Patriots didn’t fly home to New England. They stayed in Colorado and are practicing at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs preparing for the Oakland Raiders this Sunday in Mexico City.

Bill Belichick has long used opportunities like this to train in a different location. There is another benefit to staying near the mile high city for the week: altitude.

Denver is well known as the mile high city at 5,280 feet. What you may not realize is Mexico City is higher at 7,382 feet, almost a mile and a half. That’s a difference if 2,102 feet. In comparison Mt. Washington’s altitude is 6,289 feet.

So when you’re watching the game this weekend consider that they are playing at an altitude higher than the tallest peak in the north east.
