The Hanover High School boys’ hockey team scored two late second period goals and used a stingy defense to pull out a hard fought 3-2 win over Bishop Guertin in the NHIAA Division I semifinals Thursday night at JFK Coliseum. The Marauders (17-3) scored twice over the final 4:51 of the second period to turn a 1-1 tie into a 3-1 advantage.
Saturday will mark Hanover’s first championship-game appearance since 2011.
In the second Semifinal boys hockey game The Bedford Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into the third period after two late goals in both the first and second frames to defeat the top seeded Concord Crimson Tide 3-1.
Bedford senior goaltender Conner Laurendeau was the difference making 28 saves, with 22 of them coming in the final 30 minutes, to help the Bedford Bulldogs (16-4) setup their third straight trip to the D-I title game.
Second-seeded Hanover will play fourth-seeded and two-time defending champion Bedford in the state championship game Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at SNHU Arena.
